An Introduction to the Alexander Technique!
The Alexander Technique gives you a profound and effective set of principles and practices to help you explore your feelings, ideas and beliefs about yourself and how you do things, and to enable you to look freshly at how you go about the business of living. Learning the Technique helps you to become aware of patterns of moving, being and reacting which are not helpful for you — and to experience more free, relaxed and beneficial ones. We work with everyday movements such as sitting, standing, speaking and walking to explore breathing, balance, support and flow. We can also work directly with skills such as music, dance and horse riding etc.
In this workshop we will use anything in your life (which might range from physical pain and discomfort to emotional challenges) which you wish to bring as a basis for exploring the Technique. There will be lots of practical hands on experience, and you should leave with some new insights and understanding, and some practical ideas to put into practice.
